One Day Left!

I feel like it's Christmas Eve! Can't wait till tomorrow to find out how everyone likes our stamps! Just wanted to share one last sample from Aunty Jan that I just love. I guess I never thought of putting Mei Lin and Kiyomi together, but they actually compliment one another really well. It looks like Kiyomi is trying to play with Mei Lin's pinwheel! Aunty cut out Kiyomi so she wouldn't get the butterfly in the scene, but you could also cut out the butterfly from the stamp and use it as a separate stamp so that you can place the butterfly wherever you want it to go. That's the beauty of cling stamps!

Don't forget, today is our last day to enter into all the blog candies! Please post a comment by 11:59pm tonight for your final chance to win! Good Luck! And as a reminder, please let me know if you've posted any creations featuring our stamps on your blog.. we'd love to come and visit and check them out! Happy Stamping!

Mei Li Tag Card

Can you believe its only 2 more days until Sister Stamps will be available for purchase? I know you can't see right now but I'm jumping up and down with excitement! Enough about me... I know you'd rather check out our next sample. Aunty Jan created this card that looks like a tag- isn't it neat? She even added a tassel to the top. I love that she added punched flowers to the tassel too.

Here's a close up of Mei Li... Thank you so much Aunty for your help!

Don't forget.. there's still time to enter into all of the blog candies! Check out Debi's blog candy for 3 chances to win individual stamps with other goodies and our blog for a chance to win the entire set! You have until June 30 to enter, so don't miss out!

Aunty Jan Lends A Hand...

There's nothing like family to be there for you when you need them... I saw my Aunty Jan this past weekend and asked her to help make some samples for our blog. She came through in a pinch and sent me three new cards in the mail today! Thanks Aunty! You are the best!

I love that I can share some new creations using our images with you as we countdown the days to our very first release! Can you believe our stamps will be available on July 1st? That's THIS FRIDAY folks! I'm so nervous! I really hope you all like them as much as I do. One of the things I love about them is that they are cut from red rubber, which gives great stamped images, especially when using our favorite, Momento ink. All of the stamps are deep edged cut, so you shouldn't have ink getting on other parts of the stamp that you don't want to show up. Ok, enough yapping... on to the card!

I love the colors Aunty used in her card. I wouldn't normally pair that golden yellow with blue and purple, but it really brightens up the card! Here's a close up of Mei Lin.

I really can't wait to see what everyone does with our images... Please let me know if you've posted any creations on your blog so I can go and check them out! Check in tomorrow for another card by Aunty Jan! Ja Mata!

And Last But Not Least... It's Mei Li!

Before I introduce Mei Li to all of you, I just want to say how excited and happy (and overwhelmed) I am on the warm response to Sister Stamps! I've been telling my sister for years that she "owes it to the crafting community" to make her designs available to us all. I think she thought I was joking, but I was dead serious. So you may think I started this company to make money, but just know that I really had all of you in mind when I decided to make these images into rubber!

And now for our final image on our first release, we have Mei Li. Mei Li was named after my other niece Haley. She looks like she has a lot of spunk, just like my 5 year old niece, so I thought the name was fitting. Mei Li comes holding a really cute lantern and pretty flowers in her hair.

Decided to make a few simple type cards to give some samples to the stores. We purposefully sized our images small enough to fit into those Spellbinder Nestibilities dies that we love to use so much. (Thanks Kris for that great tip!)

Here's all of the cards I made using Mei Li... You can check it out when you visit your favorite retailer to pick up your stamps!

Don't forget to check out Debi's blog for another chance to win some Sister Stamps along with other goodies. Thank you to Island Scrapbooking for donating the other items in the giveaway! Yup, you have three more chances to win our stamps- she will be giving away 3 different stamps in 3 different candies, so more people can win! Introducing- Mei Lin

Ready to meet the next girl? This is Mei Lin... She kinda looked Chinese to me and reminded me of my niece Sara. I wonder if that's who my sister had in mind when she drew her? Anyway, Mei Lin comes holding this cute pinwheel. Decided to make an easel card this time... actually you can't tell but its a calendar easel card. I guess I forgot to take the photo when it was standing upright. Sorry! Here's what it looks like when it's closed. I added a sentiment and banner from a couple of Lawn Fawn sets since they seem to match well with Sister Stamp images.

The frame was punched using a double scallop corner/boarder Martha Stewart punch set. Its very delicate and asian looking and reminded me of fish scales similar to those on a koi. Here's a close up of Mei Lin.

Come back soon to learn more about Mei Li!

Supplies:
  • Mei Lin- Sister Stamps
  • Sentiment and banner- Lawn Fawn
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • Double scallop punch- Martha Stewart Crafts
  • Washi paper- Hanko

Meet Kiyomi...

Thought I'd give these girls a proper introduction, so starting off with Kiyomi. Kiyomi is my sister's middle name and she often goes by Kiyomi when signing her artwork. This image comes with a butterfly that Kiyomi is chasing, but is not featured here on this sample. Here's a close up of Kiyomi...

While exploring other blogs, I came across some you tube videos for a triple easel card, which was actually easy to make. Much easier than it looks! The main challenge is finding the right paper and embellishments for the side panels as they will look sideways when card is closed (shown here).

Keeping that in mind, I used my sakura punches by Punch Bunch to decorate the side panels. You can't really decorate using things that have a definite right or wrong way. Here's what the card looks like once you open it up... to keep the card open, I used a bunch of pop dots in strategic paces.

Being that my sister is the talent behind this company, I thought it only fitting to name the first image after her! Thanks Denise for all your hard work! Miss you!

Don't forget to enter into our blog candy for a chance to win all 3 new releases!

Introducing.... Our 1st Release!

Whoopie! I can hardly contain myself! I guess its been too long since I've been keeping this company a secret, that I'm just bursting with excitement! Sister Stamps' first release will be on July 1st and I can't wait to hear from all of you what you think. Drum roll please (make that a Taiko (drum) roll).... Taaaaa daaaa!

Each image will be sold separately at retail stores throughout Hawaii. (See our sidebar for retailers who will be carrying our images). Each stamp is made of red rubber and is already cling mounted, so all you have to do is trim off the excess rubber, peel off the paper backing, and attach to an acrylic block. We are happy to report that all manufacturing is done right here in the United States! Yay!

If you would like to see some samples of cards and other paper crafts made using these designs, head on over to our Flicker Group to see projects that were posted previously on my blog. Join our Flicker Group and add in your own creations using our stamps so others can see what you come up with as well!

And finally, be sure to check out our Facebook page to get more Sister Stamps news and info.

We are so happy to be getting great feedback on our images that we've decided to celebrate by giving away some blog candy! Woo hoo! Who doesn't like a little candy? To tell you the truth, its what got me started blogging... yup, started my own blog just to try to win some of those awesome goodies out there! So enter now to win a set of our new releases- that's right, one of each design!

Here's how to enter:
  • Follow this blog
  • Post a comment on THIS POST
  • Tell others about Sister Stamps (we'd be grateful but not required for blog candy entry).
  • Tell us what designs you would like to see in the future (no promises as I am not the artist, but I can always throw hints her way).
  • You do not need to have a blog to enter.
You have until 11:59pm (HST) on June 30, 2011 to enter. Good Luck!

Once Upon A Time...

A long time ago, I thought I would be a writer (no joke!) and dreamed of writing books for children and having my sister illustrate them for me. I always knew she was a talented artist and she proved to everyone how you could make a living off of doing something you love. I love and admire that qualify about her, and till today felt we should still work on a project together.

A few years ago, my sister showed me her sketches, that started off as cartoons which made fun of her everyday life. She also shared a recipe book she made for mom that featured cute illustrations to go with each recipe. In the past couple of years, I started requesting drawings for special crafting projects and got such great feedback on my blog, that I knew the crafting community would love to work with these images as much as I do.

Which brings us to today... we have decided to bring these images to life by converting them to rubber and making them available to you! Thank you to all who have left such positive feedback on my blog and in personal emails. You have inspired us to make these stamps, and hopefully our stamps will inspire you to make great craft projects!

Our first release is scheduled for July 1, 2011, so stay tuned for more info and sneak peeks on which designs will be released.
