Winners!

Hi Everyone!  Thank you for sharing your wedding and graduation memories with me.  I had fun reading all of them!

Just to show my age.. Project Grad was a joke when I was graduating... I think they tried, but only 4 people showed up!  After that it became a big thing that every HS was doing.  But then again, our class was the trouble making class, so I don't think we would've gone to it anyway.  I remember going to about 3 grad parties that night and ended up at my buddy Les', who pretty much shut down the street with Ho'aikane playing out of her garage.  I think we missed the whole thing, but was there for the "after party".  Then it was a blur resulting in a lot of people getting "sharpie'd" that night.

Most memorable wedding memory?  Hmmm.. I won't bore you with details of my wedding, so I'll pull from my wedding videography experience (bet you didn't know that I was a videographer huh?).. it has to be the wedding that when asked if anyone had objections to the wedding, the mother of the groom stood up and gave a big speech about why the couple shouldn't get married.  Bride crying and everything.

Or maybe its the wedding when the maid of honor got drunk, made the bride mad and the bride punched her out and got arrested!

Yes, I've seen it all!!  LOL!

So now that you had a good laugh, time to announce the winners!

Wedding: Christine
Graduate: Pam K

Congrats Grad!

Gosh.. are we really at the last pre-release post?  Just want to thank all the DT for again creating some awesome projects using our new images and a special thanks to Judybakes!!  Thanks Judy!  Please check out her blog here to see what she's done with our images.  And don't forget to check out her You Tube Channel for more inspiration.

And don't forget to stop by our DT's blogs to give them some love:

Today's card really embraces pop culture.  When I graduated high school, there were no such things as pagers, cell phones, ipads or the like.  When I graduated college, we all had pagers but only a handful of us had cell phones.  And cell phones were HUGE back then! LOL!  So now, everyone, even our grandparents have cell phones.  It has become a staple in my purse and at my side pretty much all the time.  I think I'm on my pone, ipad, or computer for most of the day.  We even gave up our cable and land line because now we only really need our phone and a high speed internet connection!

So when I saw this iphone stamp set by Hero Arts, I had to get it.  I'm sure one day my daughter will look at this post and think.. OMG that is so old school!  LOL!  But for now, this is pretty much how I deal with daily life.  So I thought it only fitting to incorporate the cell phone into my project!

I can imagine nowadays that at a graduation, everyone will be taking photos or video using their phones and uploading it to instagram, facebook, youtube, or whatever their favorite social media is.  I'm totally guilty of that!

I love how the Hero Arts set comes with the matching little word bubbles so it looks like you are texting someone.  I chose the one that says "you rock".  The Congrats stamp is by my new favorite sentiment set(s) by Walter and Winnie. The background paper is from the new Doodlebug Designs line and the enamel dots are by My Mind's Eye.  That was the first time I used the enamel dots.. I think it worked well with this layout.

Hope you enjoyed the previews for this release!  Don't forget to enter to win our blog candy before midnight tonight!

Love Captured

So do you all like our new images?  I hope so!  I'm very excited that we can bring these to you.. back today to share more projects with you... But before I do, I wanted to announce our guest designer for this release!

This crafty girl not only crafts, but apparently she bakes!  Any guesses?  Give up? Check out her blog here... and her You Tube Channel here...

And we also have our regular DT back again to share their projects with you:

Can't wait to see what they come up with!  As for me, I decided to incorporate our Wedding image into a layout.  Because the bride and groom are in traditional wedding attire, I decided to dig through my pictures to see if I could come up with anything vintage.  Luckily, my Aunty Jan had sent me this wedding photo of my grandparents years ago. I love that my grandmother is wearing the same hat that the image is!  My grandfather is wearing a regular suit, but my grandma is in the wedding kimono.  I noticed that a lot of the wedding kimonos I've seen in Hawaii weddings were darker and not all white like the photos you see online.  Here's the layout I came up with...

Decided to keep it very simple, like the picture.  The background paper is actually more like wrapping paper that is a white on white crane print I got from Japan.  I mounted the photo that was printed from my printer onto gold cardstock.  The cherry blossoms and mizuhiki were also purchased in Japan (no I did not knot that myself).

Here's a closer look at the photo.

And a better look at the wedding couple.

Found this love kanji sticker I bought years ago.  It was a good size to match the layout.

Hope you enjoyed my project for today!  Check back again tomorrow for our last release post!  And don't forget to check out the rest of the DT to see what they've been up to.

You Did It!

Welcome to the 2nd day of introductions!  I'm back today with the 2nd image from this release and it's been long awaited....

In Hawaii, graduations are a very special moment in life.  High School graduations are especially important and families spend months planning grad parties to celebrate the big day.  Because a lot of you are card makers, I really wanted a graduation stamp that screamed "Hawaii".  By that I mean, leis stacked to your eyes!  I think my sister did a great job capturing the Hawaii Graduate!  Because the leis are stacked, you can't really tell if it's a boy or girl, so you can use the image for either!

For this card, I used my new Papertrey Ink coverplate deco die.  I love that it adds such a nice touch to the card.  Finished it off with a sentiment also from Papertrey Ink.

Here's a better look at the graduate.  I decided to make it look like a UH graduation.

Do you want a chance to win the Graduate?  If so, here's all you have to do:
1.  Leave a message on THIS POST by 04/14/14 11:59pm HST; and
2.  Tell me what you did the night you graduated... Dying to find out!!!

Here Comes The Bride!

Welcome to Release #22!  This has been a long awaited release for me.  If you saw yesterday's post, you'll know that we are releasing two images this time, both related to celebrations.. one graduate and one wedding couple!  Yay!  These important images were missing from the Sister Stamps family and now we finally have them!  Yay!

My sister takes care with every image she creates.  I requested a wedding couple awhile ago, but she couldn't get the image just right until now.  She pulls references for inspiration to make sure she gets the kimono and hat just right.  I love how they tuned out.  Here's some samples I've made for some of our retailers.

I decided to color them up all the same, though I've found photos of other variations of the bride's kimono.  I hand drew the pin stripes on the groom's kimono.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but I used a pearl smooch to color in the bride's kimono and hat to give her a satin finish.

Each card is on a black card base with gold cardstock.  Then I cut some satin finish paper and embossed it with this cherry blossom embossing folder that I got from Hanko.  Love it!  Didn't want to make the background too busy as it would take away from the image.

Then I took some of my new Memory box dies Tiffany Frame and and Chesapeake Circle and cut them using gold cardstock.  I like how they frame the image.  You can even place the couple to the side and add your sentiment inside the frame.

Here I tried mounting the couple in a landscape style.  I like how it turned out!

Ok peeps... you know the drill... want a chance to win this image?  If so, all you have to do is:
1.  Leave a comment on THIS POST by April 14, 2014 11:59pm HST; and
2.  Tell me about your most memorable wedding moment (can be your's or any wedding you attended).
