Meet Sweet Yuki...

This sweet little girl is Yuki. I love Yuki. In fact, I think she just might be my favorite image thus far. You can really tell how much she loves everything she got in her stocking!

Yuki means Blessing/Snow, and I thought that would be an appropriate name for this little girl. Don't you? She really really really reminds me of my sister at Christmas time. My sister LOVED Christmas. I did too, but not as much as she did as a child. Whenever I see this image, it totally reminds me of her and a story I hear almost every year around Christmas time. My mom knew my sister wanted a Barbie dream house for Christmas. Well, times were not so great and back then, and a Barbie dream house cost a pretty penny. If I recall correctly, mom scrimped and saved and finally had enough to get it on Christmas eve. I think it was the last one left at the store too. She told me it was worth every penny to see the look on my sister's face on Christmas morning. Hey... how come I never got that Barbie dream house as a hand me down??? I just realized that... hmmmm....

Anyway, back to the card. As you can see I used my favorite layout of circle, washi strip on the side and sentiment on the bottom. I guess that really is my go-to layout. As you can tell, I colored her up before I got brave enough to try Mama's hair coloring technique.

Now for a closer look at Yuki and what's in her stocking... I LOVE LOVE LOVE that puppy dog. He is just the cutest! And, did anyone have that toy in her stocking? I remember my brother and sister brought that back from Japan . I could never do it back then, but I remember watching my brother play with it a lot. Wish I found one on my trip earlier this year! Guess I have to add that to my list for next trip. Oh yes, and not to forget the sentiment and banner stamps are by Lawn Fawn (my favorite).

Ok, by now you should know the drill right? If not, refer to yesterday's introductory post on Setsuna for the blog candy rules... Oh, and let me know what your favorite Christmas present was as a kid. I'm dying to find out! I remember one year it was a cash register. What does that say about me huh?

  1. Hi Jenny, I'm getting excited just looking at Yuki. And I still love that hair coloring technique you use. I never really had a favorite Christmas present but I did look forward to seeing the life saver books with all the rolls of life savers in them. It's something that my dad would put in each of our stockings every year.

My favorite present when I was wee small was paperdolls... I would to take them apart and dress them up on the chipboard paper doll... I don't see this anymore in the stores... They are made differently....I wish I kept them but so sadly when you are youngster everything gets tossed out.....

  5. Yuki is just the sweetest little thing! These have got to be the cutest holiday images ever! I don't remember having a favorite Xmas toy. I was not into Barbies at all (gasp!!! I know! A girl NOT into Barbies?!?). But, I did have a toy cash register that I loved playing with, too! Now that I think about it - when I was only like 2, Santa brought me a doll named Baby Beans, that I liked a lot. =)

One of my fave "back in those good 'ole days" was the little red wagon! We could pack two kids in it and pull them all over the place...aaahhhh such fun! Looking at Yuki, I would love to spend Christmas in Japan!

  12. OMG! So darling!! I wanna give her a hug!
My favorite present when I was a kid was a set of books from my parents. I was so into the Baby-Sitters Club books and they bought me a set of like 20 books. I think I sat there all day reading. But recently, my favorite present was a picture frame from one of my best friends. It had pictures of me and my two best friends at different points in our lives.

  16. Yuki is so sweet! I love the look of pure joy on her face.

I giggled when I read your favorite toy! I think I would have loved a cash register too. One of my favorite Christmas presents was a Cabbage Patch doll. I was so excited when I unwrapped it. I showed it to my younger sister and then she wouldn't give it back! There were a few tense moments until my parents convinced her to open her own cabbage-patch-doll-sized present. :)

  17. I'm already a private follower.

In all honesty I can't remember a stand out gift. I guess it's other things that are more important. :)
