Here's Takeo!

Hi Everyone!  Back with our last Introductory Post for this release... today, I'm excited to introduce to you Takeo!  He comes ready to party with all his balloons in tow.  I just love his expression as he looks just as excited as I am about this release!

Takeo is named after Debi's 3-year old son.  He is the smartest 3 year old you'll ever meet!  I thought my Akemi was smart, but I think he gives her good rubs when it comes to intellect.  One day I watched Takeo for his mommy while she taught a class.  Although he was not potty trained at the time, he could navigate through the internet and find all kinds of street signs, the Disney Channel website, and find California Girls on my iphone (and sing it all too I might add).

A few months later, I bought him some bicycle and people wood images (the kind you see on restrooms to tell you if its for female or male) so he could play with them since he loved signs so much.  His mommy wrote something to the effect of "Share the Road" and I swear to god he read it!!!  I asked her if he could read and she said he can.  AMAZING!  It wasn't just ABC's now... I'm talking words and small sentences.  I'm still in awe. I know it's probably just memorization, but still... that's pretty darn amazing.

So now that you know a little more about Takeo, let's share today's project...  When our New Year's images released last year, I shared with your a short tutorial on how to make li see packets.  Well, using the same concept, I came up with this money envelope, only it opens sideways instead- more like a regular envelope.  Kept the layout very simple by using my go to- horizontal washi paper strip and added a red cardstock strip over it.  Since it looked a little plain, I stamped Happy Birthday with my old Hero Arts birthday stamp.    This money envelope can be used for any kind of gift giving.  I think they are great for graduations and even thank you gifts.  Another version of this project will be a make 'n take on my make 'n take tour of Oahu next week.

Here's a close up of Takeo.  I love how his balloons are on a bamboo shoot!

And just so you can see, I took a photo of the back so you can see where the money goes in.

And I'm sure you are waiting for the giveaway right?  OK here goes... follow the same instructions from the Mariko post (two days ago) and tell me about your favorite birthday memory... I guess mine would have to be my sweet 16... totally got surprised at Bobby McGees--- Does anyone remember that place?   I think we still have the bathtub and toilet bowls from there somewhere in my mom's house.  They must be collectors items by now.

  1. Very very cool! A nice dress up for a money holder. The colors are cool and just that strip of washi and cs is perfect. Takeo is so cute! Thanks for the cute back story.

  2. My favorite B'day memory was a cake my mom made. I have a Dec. birthday and she decorated the cake to look like a Christmas gift. This was in the 1940's so there wasn't many resources available for cake decorations besides candles. I remember red string and paper Christmas card stickers and a TO/FROM tag.

  3. The Takeo stamp is sure cute. He looks even cuter on the money envelope that you made. One of my favorite b-day memories was the first b-day card that my son wrote me a message in. It was when he was learning to write. When we were at the party store he asked my hubby and I to purchase a card with Transformers on it. On my b-day he gave the Transformer card to me with a very touching message that he wrote.

  5. Takeo is super cute! Love him. My favorite birthday memory was my surprise 40th birthday. My husband invited all of my hula sisters and friends to our favorite Japanese restaurant. They were all laying in wait to pounce on me when I showed up at the restaurant. I couldn't figure out why all of my favorite people were at my favorite restaurant even when they shouted "surprise, happy birthday!" I still can't believe that my husband was able to pull this off!

  6. He's so cute, you can practically see his joy in running with those balloons. My favorite birthday memory was when I was six and my brother and I had this joint birthday party and my parents spent three days cooking for over 100 kids and adults and we were just running around like crazy and having so much fun.

  7. Cute, money envelope card. Takeo is so adorable. Reminds me of my two sons always running around and having fun.

My favorite birthday memory would be going out with my friends to TGI Fridays on Ward...many years ago.

  8. Takeo is very cute. He also reminds me of my 2 sons. When they get a balloon from the grocery store or a bday party, they come home and run around the house with the balloon or tie them to their ride-on toys and jam (drift) around the house. They just love balloons.
I gotta say my best bday memory would be when I was in Maui. =)

  9. Takeo is adorable with his balloons; every kid loves balloons! I love all the girl stamps~they are so cute, but I'm glad that you include boys -- they remind me of my boys when they were young.
My favorite birthday memory was my 21st. My friends & I went to the college football game on the day of my birthday & they surprised me by having a birthday message but up on the electronic scoreboard!

  12. Such a cute money holder. Takeo is a perfect fit. My favorite birthday memory is from elementary school when I got to spend the day at Disneyland. This was way before things like the character breakfasts, but it was still very magical for me. :)
