So, I've recently re-discovered my interactive card roots.  I love when cards have mechanical features that make them slide, pop up, etc.  I actually took a class from my good friend Debi once upon a time to learn how to make this card!  I adapted it so that it was a larger size, but its basically the same mechanics.  I forgot how much fun interactive cards can be!

So I decided to feature Sakura-chan on this card.  I found this cute paper by Bo Bunny and knew this was the perfect cardstock for my project!  It's so sweet and babyish.  It's a really light pink- almost like a peachy color, so that's the color I used for her sakura.  Here's a close up of Sakura-chan.

When you pull the tab at the top, the card pops up to reveal the message below.  I used another Walter and Winnie sentiment from the same set.  Had to position the flowers so that they did not get caught in the mechanism when the card is opened and closed.

Well, hope you enjoyed all the previews!  Don't forget to enter into our blog candy giveaway!

Sakura Birthday

Wassup People!  It's Aloha Friday!  No work till Monday!!  Woo Hoo!  Can you tell I am happy its the weekend?!  Hope you have some fun things planned this weekend!

Before I tell you about my project, thought I'd remind you to hop on over to our Guest Designer's blog to see what other awesomeness she's created for you today.  Lysa is one talented mama!  Check her out here!

And don't forget our other DT members projects!

So I decided to try out one of our other Sakura set designs for this card.  I picked the sakura that perfectly coordinates with our Sakura-chan image.  These would be great to pop up in front of the Sakura-chan image as I did with the Momotaro card I shared yesterday.

Anyway, just wanted to keep this card simple by limiting the layering.   I love this sentiment set by Walter and Winnie- please check them out for some awesome sentiment sets!

I was hoping you could see in the photo but I colored up the stamens using gold smooch.

And to finish off the card, I went over it with some Spun Sugar distress ink and my blending tool.  Don't forget to check out our DT's projects!

Congrats!

Yay!  Did you enjoy the introductions?  Did you remember to enter our blog candy?  If you didn't enter yet, don't forget to by 05/31/14!

Before I get into my card share today, wanted to introduce our guest designer for this release!  She is quite a talented crafty mom and is perfect to help us out on this release!! Check out her blog here... and give her some love!

Our Design Team is back again with some sweet baby projects to share with you!

Here's my project for today... I colored up Momotaro again... this time with hair!!  I think I like him better with hair.  But you can choose either way.

I cut out the window using my paper trimmer and adhered the bamboo washi paper behind it.  The Congrats was made with my thickers.  Luckily they were a smaller size so they all fit in the window!

Here's a closer look at Momotaro!

And I colored up the different sized momo (peach) from the sakura set and popped them up with foam dots for dimension.

Hope you enjoyed my project for today!  Check back tomorrow for more release fun!

Sakuras!

For lack of better name, our next image  is referred to as the Sakura set.  I know its a bit confusing, but you will get 4 different Sakura images in three different sizes for a total of 12 sakura images!  Plus you will get three peach images in three different sizes!  All 15 images in one set!  Yes, the set is pretty large but I wanted to offer up some variety of background images and couldn't decide which sakura was better than the next, so I gave you all the images my sister sent me.  Hopefully you will find this set useful and fun to use with all of our images!  I couldn't make a sample using all of the different images, so I thought I'd re-post the banner so you can see them up close.

In addition to the standard sakura image, my sister also drew two sakura designs with some dimension and one that is a solid image in case you want to stamp the whole image in color.

Here's one of the cards I made using the standard sakura image.  all I did was stamp random images in different sizes in light pink. Then I used my blender tool and added some Spun Sugar around the edges so it blended.  I liked the effect this gave to the background.

Then I stamped the sentiment by Hero Arts.  The card was still missing something, so I added in some mini crystals to the center of the larger sakuras.  This card should show you the size difference in the sakuras.

Do you want a chance to win this sakura set?  If so here's all you gotta do:
1)  leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 05/31/14; and
2)  tell me how you would use this set on a project!

It's Momotaro!

So happy that my sister gave me these cute baby images!  I was hoping she would give me images that are useful for card makers and thought that all of the occasions were desperately needed.  That's why last month you saw our wedding and graduate stamps and now we have our babies to introduce to you!

Since this little boy was obviously born from a peach.. naturally we named him Momotaro!  You can watch the story here.

I couldn't decide whether to color up some hair on this baby boy or leave him bald.  I decided on bald this time around!

Kept my card very simple this time.  Just did a lot of layering, but overall very simple.  The main focus is our little boy, so I picked a dark contrasting background so the peach would pop.  Sentiments are from a Congratulations PTI stamps set.

Will show you a variation on his hair in another sample.

Do you want a chance to win Momotaro?  If so here's what you have to do:
1)  Leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 05/31/14; and
2)  Tell me if you like him with or without hair.

We have one more stamp(s) to show you tomorrow so check back again!

Introducing... Sakura-chan

Hello there friends!  Our new release images are so sweet and perfect for any baby projects you may have!  Totally wish I had these when my daughter was born!  But I can still use these cuties for my scrapbooking projects and they are good sized for making your own pocket scrapbooking cards.

Let me just say that this image was not named after anyone I know.  I just thought that since she was being born out of a cherry blossom, I wanted to call her Sakura.

I have to say, that I'm a little partial to our first image from this release.  My family has a lot of girls.  I have one sister (and one brother), I have a daughter, my brother has two daughters and his wife has two sisters, my sister has a sister in law and two nieces!  So let's just say we don't have too many males in our family.  You get the picture right?  OK on to the project!

I decided to revisit the good old gatefold card. I keep forgetting about this style card and thought it was a good layout for my project.  Since I wanted the card to be super girly, I selected some very light pink washi paper by Hanko Designs.  I love this paper!  I guess pastels always remind me of babies.

After I colored and cut up Sakura-chan, I die cut a sakura from my Lifestyle Crafts nesting dies.  And that's prety much it!  Easy peasy!

Here's a closer look at Sakura-chan.

This image reminds me of my daughter's baby luau.  For our centerpieces, my Aunty Jan made these cute Japanese girls from glass vases, styrofoam balls, and washi paper!  Kinda reminds me of Sakura-chan now that I look at it.

Do you want a chance to win Sakura-chan?  If so, here's what you have to do:
1)  leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 05/31/14; and
2)  tell me what kind of project you would use this image on!

Check back tomorrow for another intro..

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommy's out there and especially my mom!!  I decided to try not to be late again like I normally am in making cards this year.  I bought this Mom die by Simon Says Stamp especially so I could make Mother's Day cards!  I love the font used- my favorite Mom die by far.  It also cuts out very nicely and doesn't stuck in the die.

I decided to use Harumi  since she looks like she's lying down on top of the word.  She's one of my favorite images.. I think its cause she's pretty easy to color up and is in such a cute pose.

I decided to go with purples this year because we are starting to plan our trip to Japan next year (yay!). We are hoping to catch the wisteria season which are commonly purple.  I really hope we time it right!

Here's the inspiration for my card...  check out the other photos here...

Hope you have a great Mother's Day!  Treat your mommy's good today!

Happy Boy's Day!

Just about 2 years ago we released Katsura!  This is still my go to image for Boy's Day since he's carrying the traditional koi that is hung over your house if you have boys.  I haven't colored up this image in a very long time, so it was nice to see my old pal again!

Decided to do a gatefold card... Haven't done one of those in a long time either! Love the washi paper used on the card by Hanko Designs.  It's very masculine and nice to use as a background since its not that busy.

I had to pull reference on how to color up the koi since I haven't done it in awhile.  Do you ever do that?  I have to do that a lot for our images since my sister takes a lot of care and attention to traditional Japanese ways, so I try to do the same.

Hope you have a great Boy's Day!
