Crafty Shave Ice!

Before I get into my project (which I'm super excited to share with you today), I just wanted to thank our guest designer... Rina "Scrapstress" for working so hard on all of her projects to make this release extra special...

And of course, I can't forget my design team right?  I love you guys!  Thank you for ALWAYS working so hard to make our releases so fun and inspiring.  Please check out everyone's blog and give them some love!

Now.. I'm so excited to share my project with you today.  Here's what I started off with....

Yep, those were paper mache cupcake boxes that I had in my storage buried in my closet.  I was so happy to find them and knew exactly what I wanted to make with them...

Ta daaaaaaa!  I made crafty shave ice!  No, you can't eat it, but it sure looks ono!  See, it's also a box, so you can put little goodies inside!

And here's a close up of Anuhea with her shave ice. I want to say its blue vanilla and strawberry.

Here's how I made them.. First I gesso'd the outside and inside with 2 coats.  Then I did a coat of regular white acrylic paint.

After those all dried, it was time to make the shave ice!  I used regular acrylic paint and painted each shave ice and blended it inbetween so it looked like real shave ice.

After that dried, I gave it a coat of glossy accents and added a coat of Martha Stewart coarse glitter like I did on the image's shave ice.

Then I cut down a paper straw and hot glued it to the crafty shave ice!  Here's a better look at Ekahi!

I think he's eating banana and blue vanilla.

And can't forget Leilani with the Rainbow shave ice!

Poor thing spilled hers.  Hope you don't spill your's!

All right crafty peeps!  By the time you read this I will have returned home from my trip.  But there's still time left to enter our giveaway!  Go back to the introductory posts and check them out!  And don't forget to like us on Facebook.. we sometimes do surprise giveaways and share links to all of your projects that we find online!

Aloha and Mahalo

So did my hint yesterday about the Spam Musubi help you figure out who our guest designer is for this release?  You guessed it!  It's Rina!  I met Rina when I went to LA last January with Linda.  Oh My Goodness... we had so much fun!  She is a riot and I totally wish we hung out more!  Thanks   Rina for helping me with this release!  Her projects are amazing!  Go check her out dudes!

And don't forget the rest of the talented ladies:

For today's project I wanted to say thank you to our retailers who regularly carry our stamp line. Without out you we would not still be here!  I made them tags with images from this release...

Here's a closer look the Anuhea tags.  I sprayed the backgrounds with my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and added sand to the bottom of the tag to give it a beach feel.  The Mahalo and Aloha sentiments are from Island Scrapbooking and the other sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.

Did the same for the Ekahi tags.

Hope you enjoyed today's project!  Don't forget to check out all the designer's projects on their blogs today!

Treat Yourself!

Are you ready to treat yourself to some yummy eye candy today?  Well then you need to check out and see who our guest designer is for this special release!!!  Check out her blog here...  And you'll definitely want to check out her YouTube channel here..  She is one funny chick that loves spam musubi!   More on our guest designer tomorrow.

And where would we be without our lovely design team!?  Please check them out to see what fun projects they have dreamed up using our new images:

I already saw a few of their projects and know you'll just love them!

On to my project!  I really love Anuhea.  She is just so happy with her shave ice!  I gotta say, I love love love shave ice!  Sometimes I get it with ice cream, but I mostly just get it alone.  I'm not a fancy schmancy orderer.  I don't need mochi balls, azuki beans or condensed milk. Just some really good flavored syrup is good enough for me!

I gotta say that I enjoyed seeing what everyone's favorite flavors are.  I also like regular strawberry too!  I guess it just depends on my mood. I was surprised to see how many of you out there like li hing mui flavor!  And I was so sad to hear that a lot of you don't have any shave ice truck/manapua man experiences!  Those were the days.  I remember that the save ice truck used to park near out school on Wednesdays.  A cone was only 50 cents and it wasn't very good, but we all stood in line to get one!

Today I decided to make a pop up gift card holder.  I haven't made one of these in ages, but was happy to find the instructions buried in my computer. I think I learned it from Teri's class (Hi Teri!) a long time ago.  The patterned paper is by Doodlebug and matched my shave ice theme nicely.  The small sentiment is by PTI from that same set... Love it!  Perfect for a gift card holder!

And I also remembered to glitter the shave ice again.

Here's what it looks like when you open it.  I guess I forgot to put the gift card inside!

Now don't forget to check out everyone's blogs and enter to win one of our new stamps!  Good Luck!

Don't forget Leilani!

Our last image share for this release is named Leilani... she is named after Anuhea and Ekahi's sister in real life.  I thought it would be so cute to include the siblings in the release.  She is also one of my daughter's BFF's even though she's a year younger.  Those three girls are inseparable!

For my card, I decided to use may new polaroid die from Papertrey Ink.  It makes it so much easier to cut out a polaroid frame!  I love it! I bet it would be good for shaker cards too.  Our Leilani image here brings back memories... aaaahhh the good ol' hanabata days (that means olden days).  I'm sure every kid had dropped their shave ice the minute they walked out of the shop.. right?  I was famous for dropping my ice cream. LOL!  Found that sentiment stamps in one of my One Little Dreamer stamp sets. So much fun!

And here's a better look at Leilani.

And inside I found this old Dandelion Designs stamp that I thought matched my card.  Cause sometimes you just have stinky days!

Ok Peeps... here's how you can win Leilani for your collection:
1)  leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 06/30/14; and
2) tell me if you've ever lost your shave ice or ice cream like Leilani has.

Meet Ekahi!

Hello folks!  Hope you are enjoying the new images!  Next up is our boy image eating shave ice.  His name is Ekahi.  He is actually named after Anuhea's little brother. When we first met their family they had four girls and now they finally got their boy!

Not sure if you noticed, but I'm keeping my cards very simple for this release... I guess I'm in a simple mood?  I just had a blast making all those backgrounds that I really wanted use them without covering them up with goodies, so I decided to go with clean and simple this time.

All I did was cut the sprayed background into smaller strips and then adhered them to some kraft cardstock.  I thought this was a fun way to add texture without covering up the spray or distracting from the image.

Luckily I picked up one of the new Papertrey Ink sets that had a lot of sentiments about summer and sweets!  A perfect partner for our new stamps!  Again, added glitter to the shave ice to make it look icy.  He looks like he's eating strawberry shave ice... the kind you get from the shave ice truck that is hard and crunchy chunks (not all nice and melty like the kind you get today).

Been playing around with hair coloring again to stretch my skills a bit.  Do you like it?  I went a little lighter than I normally do.

Want a chance to win Ekahi?  Here' what you gotta do:
1)  Leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 06/30/14; and
2)  Do you remember the shave ice truck/manapua man?  If so, what did you buy from him?

Aloha Anuhea!

Hi Everyone!

Are you as excited as I am?  We are about to kick off the sneak peeks of our next release, which is pretty special.. we are turning 3!  Can you believe that three years ago on July 1st, we released our first set of Sister Stamps.  I never thought our little stamp line would grow to have over 70 images!  My hardworking sister is the creative genius behind the artwork and deserves all of the credit in creating images to fill a void that was missing in the rubber stamp market.  So before we do anything else, wanted to thank my sister for joining me on this fun adventure!

You saw a sneak peek yesterday of our images and know that they all have one of Hawaii's favorite treats!  Shave Ice!  Or is it Ice Shave?  I guess that will depend on what part of Hawaii you are from.  Me, I'm from Oahu and still say shave ice, but my family is from Hilo and they all say ice shave.  I guess I'm out voted!

The image concept has been on my mind pretty much since the start of Sister Stamps!  I've always envisioned a local kids line where the kids wear local kine clothes and do local kine things.  "Local" meaning typical Hawaii.  And in Hawaii, we all eat shave ice (or ice shave).  In fact, we've made an art out of this icy treat. It's not just ice covered in syrup anymore.. we add all kinds of goodies in the mix too.. .ice cream, condensed milk, azuki beans, mochi balls, jellies.. you name it!  I will try to find some pictures to share with you soon.

So my sister surprised me with not one.. but three new images all focused around shave ice!  Yay!  I was thrilled.  The first of our images is named Anuhea.  My daughter's BFF is your typical local girl that is of mixed ethnicity.. This image totally reminded me of her and I've been wanting to name an image after her, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. She even wears flowers in her hair!

So on my card share for today, I used a corrugated card base and added a sprayed background to it.  I finally used some of my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in the garage and just sprayed away until I got the effect I was looking for.  I really wanted the background to resemble the blending of shave ice flavors.

Because I didn't have a large sentiment that went with this card, I added in some thickers and made my own.  The sun is a die from Lawn Fawn and the happy face is from a Paper Smooches set.

Here's a closer look at Anuhea.  Can you tell that I made her ice shave look like ice?  I added some glue and glitter after I colored it up.

Want a chance to win Anuhea?  Here's all you have to do:
1)  Leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:50pm HST on 06/30/14; and
2)  Tell me what your favorite flavor of shave ice is... mine is lychee or coconut!
