Hello folks! Hope you are enjoying the new images! Next up is our boy image eating shave ice. His name is Ekahi. He is actually named after Anuhea's little brother. When we first met their family they had four girls and now they finally got their boy!
Not sure if you noticed, but I'm keeping my cards very simple for this release... I guess I'm in a simple mood? I just had a blast making all those backgrounds that I really wanted use them without covering them up with goodies, so I decided to go with clean and simple this time.
All I did was cut the sprayed background into smaller strips and then adhered them to some kraft cardstock. I thought this was a fun way to add texture without covering up the spray or distracting from the image.
Luckily I picked up one of the new Papertrey Ink sets that had a lot of sentiments about summer and sweets! A perfect partner for our new stamps! Again, added glitter to the shave ice to make it look icy. He looks like he's eating strawberry shave ice... the kind you get from the shave ice truck that is hard and crunchy chunks (not all nice and melty like the kind you get today).
Been playing around with hair coloring again to stretch my skills a bit. Do you like it? I went a little lighter than I normally do.
Want a chance to win Ekahi? Here' what you gotta do:
1) Leave a comment on THIS POST by 11:59pm HST on 06/30/14; and
2) Do you remember the shave ice truck/manapua man? If so, what did you buy from him?
Cute boy!
ReplyDeleteLittle cutie. Love the background. No shaved ice truck where I live. We did have a candy truck for awhile or the ice cream truck, I'd always get a Bomb Pop from those.
ReplyDeleteCute image and card. I love the sprayed backgrounds. They go so well with the shave ice images.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have manapua/shave ice truck here. Actually, there is a new food truck Local Kine Shave Ice that I have yet to try! I think I'll take my kids to Osaka Ya for shave ice this weekend!
Like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteNice coloring on the hair.
He's adorable!
Never experienced either of those but we have the paleta man who in no way comes close to the manapua man!
So cute reminds me of my grandson! Shaved ice truck came to the beach and the kids flocked around it waiting to buy. Such memories!
ReplyDeleteHe's such a cutie
ReplyDeleteWe never had shaved ice van here in Northern Ireland. We have ice cream vans, the bedt one I remember had a lemon sorbet that they put ontop of a cone of vanilla ice cream... oh the memories. ... hmmmm van taste it now!! Hee hee :-)

Sometimes less is more! Cutie!
ReplyDeleteSorry, never experienced the Shave Ice Man =(
DeleteLove it!! Ekahi is so adorable.... I went matsumoto shave ice to get rainbow flavor with vanilla ice cream and I bought manapua, pork hash, rice cake noodles and chicken from manapua truck
ReplyDeleteHe's super cute. There was no shave ice or manapua man when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteOMG Ekahi is so cute!!! And I am totally digging your CAS cards. They look good. I don't think I ever saw the shave ice truck/manapua man but I left Hawaii when I was little so I dunno. If I did see him though I'd definitely get a strawberry shave ice- my fave! :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't grow up in Hawaii but I do love Waiola's!! Haha so of course I'd get my orange cream with ice cream and my fiancé will get rainbow with condensed milk! Haha anyways, Ekahi is soooooo cute!!! Really cute card too!!! I love the colors!!
ReplyDeleteI really like this look. The strips give it a pattern that does not take away from Ekahi. The colors are just perfect. I wish we had a "shaved ice man" but we had the ice cream man and he sold individually packaged treats. I can remember when my kids were little we had a few incidents like this :)
ReplyDeleteCute boy stamps are so hard to find and I really like the sister stamps collection. I definitely remember the ice shave truck and how excited we'd be whenever we saw it. :)
