Cock-a-doodle-doo! Good Morning Stampers! Time to rise and shine and see what new image we are introducing today! Perhaps I'm high off of just finishing this project in time to post, but I'm super excited to show you this project featuring our Year of the Rooster stamp.
I have to admit.. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with my rooster friend here. Maybe cause it's almost Easter... I kept thinking, which did come first? The chicken or the egg? Then my husband tried to give me some ideas, but none of them fit what I wanted to do. So I guess it took procrastinating to the last minute for me to figure out what I wanted to create using this rooster.
Here's what I finally came up with... a recipe book!
I tried searching YouTube for some ideas and everything that came up was very country looking. So I got inspired and took this idea and came up with this recipe book. Because I'm also into mixed media, I thought adding the real chicken wire would be so cool! I just had to do it! Luckily I had some pre-painted chicken wire scraps that I was able to use on this project.
I started by adding some lace trim I got at a rummage sale. Then I laid a strip of October Afternoon paper in gingham. Adhering the chicken wire was the tricky part... had to hot glue it down and hold it until it set without getting burned.
After the groundwork was laid, I pulled out my Martha Stewart sunflower embellishments. I really liked these flowers and thought they really matched the country theme I was going for.
To finish it off, I added the "recipes" title using Thickers. There was just enough room... good thing I had the smaller sized alphas!
And here's a close up of the rooster.

Super cute Jenny! I'm definitely challenged with this little guy!!! xoxo, Kimmie
ReplyDeleteHow cute!! Love the flowers! I would love this rooster to pair with my much hoarded october afternoon farm girl papers! It should push me to actually use it! LOL:)
ReplyDeleteNeat-o! Adding the real chicken wire to your project is such a clever idea and really adds to the warm country feel of the cute rooster stamp!
ReplyDeleteTotally cute Jenny!! The chicken wire is fun and the design is really cute, country cute. hehe..
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun idea - really love the chicken wire. Would love to have this stamp as I love all of the Sister Stamps and especially because my oldest nephew was a Year of the Rooster baby. :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute recipe book Jenny! I love how the chicken wire ties the whole design together... so clever!
ReplyDeleteI've had this fun little rooster on my 'to buy' list because I think he would be a lot of fun to pair up with some other farm type character stamps that I have. Now if your sister could just create a matching hen and chicks I would be thrilled! :)
I'd love to have this rooster stamp because it is the cutest rooster stamp I've seen and I intend to collect your entire zodiac collection! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteAdorable rooster, and such a fun recipe book! I have a mini album to do yet to match someone's kitchen full of roosters, he'd be perfect to go along with the paper I already have. hugs, Kimberly
ReplyDeleteWell I'm totally just collecting the zodiac collection, but I love this rooster because it makes me think of the crazy chickens that live in our yard. Lately there's been a cat or something pestering them because they've been squawking up a storm this weekend. Last night we heard this crash on our roof and all kinds of noise...it was a chicken that I guess fell out of the tree and was all indignant about it so he made quite the racket! I'd love to use this as a zodiac sign but also as a iconic farm image.
